FAQs

Why should I hire you as my freelance content writer, copy editor, or content strategist?

Direct and to the point, I like it. So here’s a direct and to-the-point answer: As a content writer, copy editor, and content strategist, I have the expertise, experience, and skills to create quality content that helps you achieve your goals. Plus, I’d like to help you.

What kind of experience do you have?

The tech specs:

Over the last 20 years, I’ve created high-performing content, strategies, and teams for industry-leading, fast-growing B2B SaaS businesses.

Beyond on-the-job learning, I’ve earned undergraduate (BSBA) and graduate (MBA) business degrees, both with concentrations in Marketing. And I stay attuned to the latest digital marketing trends and techniques to keep my skills sharp and my digital pen mighty.

The context:

I know firsthand how tough it is to create quality content—and enough of it.

Not only does this kind of work take time, research, insightful thought, and technical skill to produce something worthwhile, but it also takes proficiency with marketing principles and sound business strategy to create work that will perform well, too.

Even trickier? Producing content that makes your audience think, “Wow, they really get it” or “Hunh… they’re so much more knowledgeable than [so-and-so] about [such-and-such]”—especially when you find yourself in one of these situations:

  • You’re a team of one, and you’re tackling both content strategy and execution—either as your sole job or as part of a broader role that’s got you stretched thin.
  • You’re a team of two, but you both have too many projects to devote enough time to research and write content that meets your brand’s stringent standards.
  • You’re a team of many, but you don’t have enough strategic or functional expertise on staff who have the time or technical skill to create the kind of content that sets you apart from your competition.

I’ve found myself in all of these situations, so not only do I “get it,” but I can also create content that keeps people coming back to your site for more.

What kind of content services do you offer?

Marketers at B2B SaaS businesses and venture firms hire me to create effective content strategies and high-quality content that help them meet their marketing goals.

I specialize in creating human, customer-centric, long-form content. That includes writing, copy editing, repurposing, and refreshing content, plus consulting on ways to effectively distribute it.

How do you price your services?

I custom-quote all projects based on their scope, requirements, and the complexity of each topic and project. My rates are value-based, which means clients pay for the value of a project—not the time or the exact number of words it takes to create it.

Clients don’t hire me because they’re looking for the cheapest content writer and strategist. They hire me because they care about quality, business results, and their brand’s reputation.

Do you offer ghostwriting services?

Yes. Ghostwritten content comes with a 20% additional fee since it won’t include my byline and a link back to my website.

Why should I invest in creating long-form content?

Your business has competition in your sales cycles and on search engines. On SERPs, sometimes it’s from direct competitors. Other times, it’s from industry partners or other sources entirely.

Long-form content not only helps you show up in SERPs, but it also helps you tell stories, create connections, influence perceptions, build authority, drive demand, and evoke evangelism while you grow.

  • Long-form content ranks well in search engines. Google loves it, which makes it easier for your ideal customers to find you.
  • It educates people on a topic, in depth and detail. People think of you as an authority when you give them insightful or helpful information.
  • It engenders trust in your brand. This helps you create stronger, longer-lasting connections with your current and potential customers.
  • It inspires people to take action. When someone takes action, you get closer to a sale—a new customer, a renewal, or an account upgrade.
How can I make the most of long-form content?

Long-form content is a crucial component of any competitive B2B content marketing strategy. One piece of quality content can go a long way. Not only can you use it to build your authority and drive traffic to your website, but you can also:

  • Give it to your sales team: They can use it to nurture prospect relationships and build their credibility during a sales cycle.
  • Share it with your current customers: Your client services team can offer even more value as part of your customer retention efforts.
  • Stretch it: You can use it for many marketing programs (advertising, demand generation, customer conferences, sales pitches, etc.).
  • Multiply it: You can use it to create even more content (ads, podcasts, videos, webinars, social images and copy, emails, newsletters, etc.).
  • Repurpose it: You can use it to inspire your media pitches and byline thought leadership articles or your contributions to your ecosystem or industry partners’ co-marketing programs.

Consider how much mileage you can get from a well-done piece of long-form content, and it’s easy to see how much more you can do with your finite resources.

What happens after I submit a contact form?

I’ll review your inquiry. Quickly thereafter, I’ll be in touch to schedule an introductory call so we can have a chat about your needs.

If there’s a mutual fit, we’ll dive into the details of your project. I’ll then prepare a content services proposal along with pricing for you to review.

Once you accept the proposal, we’ll sign an agreement. Then, we’ll finalize the timeline of your project and start working together.
